The Biden administration has caused a historic illegal immigration crisis on the southern border and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) is not impressed.
Rep. Cuellar’s district is on the U.S.-Mexico border, so he knows all too well the consequences of Biden’s lax border policies. In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Cuellar said:
“We need to have a very simple thing at the border, repercussions. That is people that are supposed to stay here, should be able to stay under the law, and if they have to be returned, they have to be returned quickly.
You got to have some repercussions because if you don’t have repercussions at the border, people are going to see the border as a speed bump, and they’ll be coming in at this time.”
Biden’s decision to open up the border has led to a surge in illegal immigration from over 60 countries, according to Cuellar. “Right now, the only image that we see is people coming in. No images of people going back. So, yes, the American public is frustrated,” he said.
The U.S. and Mexico announced new immigration policies that intend to reduce the number of illegal border crossings. These policies include Mexico accepting migrants from certain South American countries while the U.S. continues to not accept Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans who cross illegally.
This deal is a desperate attempt by Biden to prove to voters that he can be trusted with another four years in office. But the truth is, Biden has created a humanitarian disaster at the border.
Immigration experts have pointed out that Biden’s attempts to reverse Trump’s immigration policies have created an illusion of open borders for those looking to come to the U.S. illegally.
Biden’s promises of enhanced immigration policies and asylum procedures have only incentivized more people to attempt the dangerous journey to the United States.

The Biden administration has yet to offer any real solutions to the crisis, instead relying on Band-Aid fixes and temporary solutions.
In order to truly fix the immigration crisis, the Biden administration must create a system that provides clear consequences for people who attempt to enter the U.S. illegally.
They must also invest in technology and personnel to help secure the border. Until that happens, the Biden administration’s policies will only continue to make the crisis worse.
