People often say you can’t criticize people in the public eye, but what happens when an artist like Sam Smith goes out of their way to make themselves look ridiculous?

Recently, a segment of Fox Nation host Piers Morgan’s show “Piers Morgan: Uncensored” went off the rails when Morgan and one of his guests—author Douglas Murray and comedian James Barr—dared to criticize Smith’s appearance.

Murray started the conversation, saying that Smith had managed to keep people’s attention by first coming out as gay, and then as gender queer. Murray then went on to compare Smith’s penchant for removing clothing onstage to other performers who have stripped down during performances, arguing that in the case of performers like Justin Timberlake or Rihanna, at least they looked good while doing it.

“Sam Smith is like pudgy and very ugly,” Murray added. “And so people look at it, and he looks ridiculous. And the problem is that he’s saying, ‘Don’t ridicule me,’ but it’s hard not to ridicule when they present themselves as — ridiculous.”

Morgan jumped in: “I completely agree. Why say, ‘don’t ridicule me’ when you deliberately make yourself look ridiculous?”

“No,” Barr said. “That is disgusting, it’s a completely disgusting rhetoric from both of you —”

“It is disgusting, yeah, we do find it disgusting,” Morgan replied, referring to Smith’s presentation.

“No, what you’re saying is disgusting,” Barr insisted.

“What? We’re allowed to find him disgusting,” Morgan objected.

“No, you are not!” Barr shouted back, to which Morgan replied, “Yes, I am.”

It’s a sad state of affairs when people like Piers Morgan, who are not afraid to speak their minds and express their opinions, are shut down and silenced by a culture of woke cancel culture. This is especially true in the case of Sam Smith, who has taken a stance that is seen as “progressive” and “inclusive” and is therefore seen as untouchable – even when his behavior is seen as ridiculous and over-the-top.

This is an example of the oppressive woke movement that has taken over the media and is being used to control and silence people who dare to speak out against it. The issue is not whether you agree with Morgan and Murray’s criticism of Smith – it’s whether you have the right to express such criticism without fear of retribution.

The reality is that if we want to live in a truly free and open society, we must be able to criticize and challenge each other without fear of being “cancelled” or silenced. We must be able to express our opinions without fear of retribution or backlash. If we are not allowed to do that, then freedom of speech is a sham.
