In a recent interview on MSNBC, Rick Wilson of the Lincoln Project made some particularly vile comments about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Wilson, who is no stranger to making inflammatory remarks about Republicans, seemed intent on seeing Donald Trump and DeSatis tear each other apart.

Wilson began by attacking DeSantis’s personality, claiming that he “doesn’t like humans, has to pretend to be human.” He added that he has a “mean streak.” While it is true that DeSantis has made some controversial statements, his behavior is far from being mean spirited.

Wilson then bizarrely contrasted his criticism of DeSantis with praise of Trump. Despite his disdain for Trump, Wilson argued that Trump does have “charisma” and “energy.” In a particularly gruesome metaphor, Wilson then predicted that in a debate, Trump would “tear Ron DeSantis’s head off and kick it around like a soccer ball.”

WATCH:

Not only is this metaphor disturbing and violent, it is also indicative of the left’s tendency to pit Republicans against each other. This kind of rhetoric is unacceptable, and it should be condemned. It is not only irresponsible, but it also serves to further polarize the nation.

The left’s fondness for violent imagery and metaphors is also concerning. This kind of rhetoric does nothing to promote progress or help bridge the political divide. Instead, it only serves to stoke the flames of political animosity and further divide the nation.

Rick Wilson’s comments were dangerous and irresponsible. I don’t get why the left has such a violent reaction to politics, but these folks have to start drawing a line at some point.

That said, I know most people that I know is ready for a Trump-Biden rematch. Whether you support Trump or DeSantis, I don’t think anyone could accuse either man of being afraid of confrontation. Wilson’s just dreaming there will be a dogfight ahead within the GOP.
