Recently, Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s “Real Time,” expressed his frustration with the lack of coverage from the liberal media on black-on-black crime in Democrat-run cities. On his show, he asked why nobody was talking about it, and why there weren’t more black celebrities speaking out about it.
Unfortunately, it seems that the left and the liberal media have decided to ignore this issue. They have chosen to remain silent about the violence and crime that is plaguing these cities, rather than address it head-on.
It’s no surprise that the liberal media has done its best to whitewash the truth when it comes to black-on-black crime. After all, it is much easier to focus on white-on-black crime, even if it is a much rarer occurrence. This selective focus serves to further divide the two races, rather than promote unity and understanding.
What is even more concerning is how the left has chosen to respond to this issue. Instead of looking for solutions to the underlying problems that are causing the violence and crime, they have chosen to focus on symbolic measures, such as increasing funding for schools.
This approach is misguided and ineffective. The fact is, 85% of black students lack proficiency in reading skills. It is clear that more money is not the answer. The focus should be on getting kids to read and providing them with the resources and education they need to get gainful employment.
By ignoring black-on-black crime and choosing to focus on symbolic measures, the left is failing the very people they claim to be helping. Instead of creating a better future for young African-Americans, they are perpetuating the same broken systems that have kept them trapped in poverty for generations.
It’s time for the left to stop ignoring the truth and start addressing the root causes of black-on-black crime. Only then can we create a brighter future for all of us.
