ABC’s This Week invited Justin Pearson, one of the expelled former Democrat Tennessee representatives, on their program to seemingly play the victim, despite being held accountable for his actions.
Jon Karl opened the program on Easter Sunday with a lie, claiming the “two young black lawmakers [were] expelled from the state house of representatives after they took a stand on gun violence.”
But as NewsBusters Executive Editor Tim Graham noted, this was like claiming “January 6 being ‘a stand for Trump’s victory.’ You’re moving the goalposts on shooting up a Christian school.”
Karl invited Pearson to tell his sob story about experiencing so-called “gun violence” and how “over two thousand cars have gotten broken into” in his city.
Karl then asked Pearson if he could be reinstated as early as next week, to which Pearson announced his intention to “continue to serve District 86” and noted that he would run in a special election if one is called.
Pearson then huffed that “Our voters have been disenfranchised. This is one of the greatest tactics of voter disenfranchisement and voter oppression that I have ever witnessed.”
Karl then gushed over Pearson, saying “your voice has certainly grown since this” and asked Pearson how he would use his platform to get done what he was trying to get done. Pearson then demanded that “We need to make sure that we’re banning assault weapons. We need red flag laws, we need gun store safety laws in our state.”
This is exactly the kind of biased liberal media coverage that we’ve been getting for too long. Instead of pushing for gun control, we need to be pushing for GOP policies that preserve our right to bear arms.
We need to be pushing for gun rights, not gun reform. We need to be pushing for the right to defend ourselves and our families, not the left’s agenda of disarming us. We must stand up for our Second Amendment rights and take a stand against biased liberal media.
Just to be clear, despite whatever reasons the media spews, the two Democrats were expelled for breaking House rules and ignoring the warnings of their colleagues. Period.
Leave it to the media to not want lawmakers held accountable for their actions.
