It is not fair for men to compete in women’s sports. This is a sentiment that tennis legend Martina Navratilova recently expressed in her op-ed for the Sunday Times of London.
Despite the backlash she received, she stands by her opinion, recently tweeting her response to biological male transgender athlete Lia Thomas after Thomas said critics are pushing “transphobic beliefs” under the “guise of feminism.”
Navratilova wrote, “Lia Thomas Says Her Critics Using ‘Feminism’ Claims To Hide Transphobia. NEWSFLASH Lia — it’s not fair. We shouldn’t have to explain it to you over and over. Also — stop explaining feminism to feminists….”

It is true. Men have a natural physical advantage over women. No matter how much hormone treatment a male athlete undergoes for a gender transition, they will still have a competitive advantage.
“Letting men compete as women simply if they change their name and take hormones is unfair—no matter how those athletes may throw their weight around,” Navratilova wrote.
A male athlete can decide to be female, take hormones if required, win in every competition and then reverse their decision and go back to being a man.
This is not only insane, it is cheating. Women should not have to compete against someone who has an unfair advantage.
Navratilova is not the only one vocalizing her opinion on this matter. There are many people who are standing up for women’s rights in the realm of sports.
It is unfair to the women competing who have trained hard and worked hard to get to where they are. It is also unfair to the male athletes who have to compete against someone who has an unfair advantage.
It bull, in my opinion. Women should be given the same opportunities as men in the realm of sports and should not be forced to compete against someone who has an unfair advantage.
