In a statement to the Daily Caller, former Senate assistant Tara Reade urged House Republicans to open an investigation into claims that she was sexually assaulted by then-Sen. Joe Biden in 1993. Reade said she would be happy to testify while under oath.
“It would be a very different thing, if I could testify under oath,” Reade told the Caller, adding that she would “provide whatever information [Congress] needed and [Congress] could ask me whatever questions they wanted.”
“I think we need to have the conversation, instead of me being erased, and other women that were erased that tried to come forward,” Reade added, saying that House Republicans should launch an investigation while they have a majority.
Reade claimed that Biden pushed her against a wall and reached under her clothes in a Senate hallway in 1993 before sexually assaulting her. She claimed that although she reported the incident to the police in 2020, an in-depth investigation was never conducted.
“There was no exchange, really, he just had me up against the wall,” she said to podcast host Katie Halper in March 2020.
“I remember it happened all at once… his hands were on me and underneath my clothes.” He then penetrated her with his fingers, she said.
“I remember him saying, first, as he was doing it ‘Do you want to go somewhere else?’ and then him saying to me, when I pulled away… he said ‘Come on man, I heard you liked me,'” she said.
“That phrase stayed with me.”
On April 9, 2020, Reade filed a criminal complaint with police, claiming she was a victim of sexual assault but not naming Biden.
In a tweet, she stated that she filed the complaint “for safety reasons only,” because the statute of limitations for her claim had expired and she was receiving online threats.
Reade was one of several women who came forward last year to accuse Biden of inappropriate touching, hugging, or kissing, though none of them, including Reade, called his actions sexual assault.
The GOP will assume the House in January and already have several investigations planned. This should defiantly be one of them, in my opinion. What do you think?
