The COVID-19 pandemic has spurred an alarming censorship scandal in the media and government. The scandal centers on the lab leak theory, which suggests that the virus originated in a laboratory rather than through natural causes.

This theory has been met with derision by many in the media and academia, who have labeled it as “racism” or “toxic white masculinity” due to its alleged anti-Chinese sentiment.

Recent evidence from the Energy Department and even members of Congress such as Senator Tom Cotton (R., Ark) suggest that this lab leak theory is more than just a conspiracy theory. In fact, former New York Times science editor Nicholas Wade criticized his colleagues for ignoring obvious evidence of a lab leak and Chinese efforts to cover it up.

Well now, the Wall Street Journal released an investigative report that concluded that the virus was leaked from a lab and removed their own previous doubt on the topic.

Unfortunately, these voices were silenced or dismissed as racist or politically motivated for raising their concerns about this possibility.

What’s worse is that President Joe Biden was quick to accuse anyone raising these theories of fanning racism while his administration reportedly shut down State Department investigations into possible origins of COVID-19 during his first few weeks in office.

And when he finally did revive an investigation into the virus’ origin late last year? He was accused of “sugar coating Trump’s racism”!

It’s clear that those who dared to question official narratives were silenced by a pro-censorship mob willing to label any dissenting opinion as “conspiracy theorizing,” “racist,” or both – all without providing any scientific evidence whatsoever. This lack of open dialogue only serves to further divide our country along ideological lines instead of helping us reach consensus on important issues like how best to respond to this global pandemic.

That’s why it’s so important for us not to forget this moment; we must remember what happened here so it never happens again. We must also demand answers from our elected officials about why they chose censorship over dialogue when discussing something as serious as COVID-19.

We must push them hard on why they allowed biased views from certain publications, academics, and organizations go unchallenged while silencing those with opposing opinions – including members of Congress like Senator Tom Cotton (R., Ark).

Going forward, let us make sure we protect free speech at all costs – especially when it comes to topics like public health crises where information can mean life or death for millions around globe!
