In a heated exchange on Fox & Friends, co-host Brian Kilmeade blasted El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser for not holding the Biden administration accountable for the border crisis and for “cleaning up the streets” for the President’s visit.
“You cleaned up the streets for the President. You – that was not a candid look of El Paso, and you know that,” Kilmeade said.
Kilmeade accused the Biden administration of “breaking the border” and “destroying” El Paso. He also criticized Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, saying he is “an embarrassment to this country” and has “destroyed your city.”
The exchange highlighted the stark divide between the GOP and Democrats over border security. Republicans have long advocated for tougher border enforcement and measures to stop the influx of illegal immigrants. But Democrats, including President Biden, have argued for more “humane” policies and have promised to undo the Trump-era policies.
The situation at the border has only worsened in recent weeks, with a record number of migrants crossing illegally and overwhelming Border Patrol resources. This has caused many to call on the Biden administration to take swift action to address the crisis.
But it appears that the administration is instead choosing to ignore the issue, as evidenced by Biden’s visit to El Paso in January, where he failed to meet with the migrants who had been crowding the streets.
It’s clear that the Biden administration is not taking the border crisis seriously, and that’s why Kilmeade was right to call out Mayor Leeser for not holding the administration accountable.
Republicans have long called for tougher border enforcement and they will continue to do so until the situation is addressed. The Biden administration must take action now to secure the border and protect American citizens from the influx of illegal immigrants.
