On Wednesday, Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan slammed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for criminally charging former President Donald Trump the previous day. Jordan accused Bragg of weaponizing the justice system by indicting the former president for a campaign finance violation.

“My big takeaway is just how relentless they’ve been after President Trump,” Jordan said on Fox & Friends. “I mean, they spy on his campaign, they raid his home, now they indict him for a campaign finance violation when he didn’t even use campaign funds. It’s ridiculous, but I think even more importantly than all that, is this is about all of us.”

Jordan suggested the indictment was timed to a recent federal investigation into independent journalist Matt Taibbi who revealed the FBI’s communications in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story in the Twitter Files.

“This is about intimidation, this is about chilling everyone’s speech, making everyone stand in line,” Jordan continued.

Jordan then said House Republicans want to call Bragg before Congress to learn if he coordinated with the federal government, including the Department of Justice or the White House, prior to the Trump indictment.

“We want to talk to him. He’s asked what questions we have so I think he’s almost conceding the point that we should be able to talk to him. Everything’s on the table, we’re gonna figure out how we proceed next,” Jordan said.

The criminal charges against the former president, which include 34 felony counts related to allegedly falsifying business records, are being viewed as an attack on free speech.

The accusation is that the Manhattan District Attorney indicted Trump for a campaign finance violation despite Trump not having violated campaign finance rules. It’s a move that many view as a political attack, as the charges came after Trump announced his presidential candidacy.

The main witness in the case, Michael Cohen, the former president’s ex-lawyer, “lied” to Congress six times, making him an unreliable source in the case.

This case is a prime example of the Democrats’ political weaponization of the justice system. It’s a move that is both concerning and dangerous, as it could potentially set a precedent for future cases. It’s one that is being fought against by House Republicans, who are looking to call Bragg before Congress to answer questions about the case.

The criminal charges against Trump come at a time of heightened tension between Democrats and the GOP, and the ramifications of the case could reverberate for years to come.
