In today’s news, it appears that President Biden and congressional Republicans have made a breakthrough in negotiations to raise the debt ceiling and prevent the United States from defaulting on its debt. But while reporting on this news, ABC’s World News Tonight senior White House correspondent Mary Bruce sought to remind viewers that Republicans were “demanding steep spending cuts” in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.

But there were no “steep spending cuts” on the table. Instead, there was a proposal to simply slow the rate of yearly increased spending. House Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy went even further and proposed enacting “tougher work requirements for federal aid programs.”

Basically, the media is spinning negotiation into a negative in hopes that Biden will walk away. The idea of lowering spending must scare the hell out of Democrats, just take a look at how their lapdog media reacts to the suggestion.

Biden acknowledged this proposal was on the table—but downplayed its significance. Speaker McCarthy responded to this by laughing and saying, “Anything that has consequence, this is a Senator who voted for work requirements.”

NBC Nightly News White House correspondent Kristen Welker, on the other hand, simply reported on the danger of the United States defaulting without any of the day’s details. She simply acted as Biden’s stenographer and relayed to viewers that the President was “projecting optimism.”

But here’s the thing: the liberal media is pressuring Biden to walk away from the talks and risk defaulting on the United States’ debt. They’re doing this in hopes of getting more spending for Democrats.

It’s clear the liberal media is pushing Biden to choose defaulting over a compromise deal. To them, the risk of a recession is worth the potential for more government spending. This is an incredibly irresponsible and dangerous position to take.

Defaulting on the national debt would cause a global economic crisis, leading to the loss of millions of jobs and tanking the economy. It would have a severe impact on the lives of everyday Americans.

It’s time for Biden and the liberal media to recognize the danger of defaulting and the importance of arriving at a fair compromise. Let’s hope Biden recognizes this and comes to a deal before it’s too late.
