On Thursday, Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (D.) fumbled through a press conference with fellow Democrats who were urging President Joe Biden to use the Fourteenth Amendment to avoid defaulting on the budget.

Fetterman failed to deliver a cohesive point and made it nearly impossible to decipher his oblique ramblings. It was embarrassing for everyone.

Fetterman and other lawmakers have attempted to mask the senator’s struggles with clear communication, sending doctored versions of his quotes to journalists.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough even made a laughable attempt at turning Fetterman’s mental health struggles into a supposed sign of strength. It was almost comical. Even worse, CBS News asked Fetterman about a potential White House campaign.

It’s unacceptable that we taxpayers are footing the bill for a senator who is so clearly incapable of presenting an articulate idea.

At the end of the day, the time our lawmakers spend trying to hide Fetterman’s apparent health issues comes at a cost to us, the citizens. What’s worse is that this frivolous spending messes up the budget and exacerbates our national debt.

Democrats are pushing more and more money at unproductive programs without prioritizing what’s most important. And, as if this reality wasn’t already bad enough, this same party is also appointing legislators who are unable to form a train of thought.

Not only does this add to the cost of the programs, it also renders Fetterman’s seat on the Senate null and void.

If millionaires in the Senate can’t perform their duties, they should be asked to step down and stop taking taxpayers’ money.

Democrats are mortgaging our future with their poor spending habits and it’s time we make them pay. Misspending has real consequences and we’re seeing them manifested in Fetterman’s incoherent press conference.

The 14th Amendment touches on many aspects of citizens’ rights and is commonly known for its “equal protection of the laws.” The Amendment has appeared in cases such as Brown v. Board of Education, Roe v. Wade, Bush v. Gore and more.

Many legal scholars suggest a clause in the 14th Amendment that says the “validity of the public debt, authorized by law … shall not be questioned” could apply to the debt limit.

Legal experts argue that Section 4 of the 14th Amendment allows the Treasury Department to keep borrowing money past the debt limit and that it would be unconstitutional for the U.S. to fail to make payments.
