Don Lemon, the drama queen co-host of “CNN This Morning”, has been the subject of yet another scandal this week. After making a sexist smear of 2024 GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley, saying she was “not in her prime”, Lemon had Poppy Harlow storming off the set in anger, according to the New York Post.
This isn’t the first time Lemon has caused controversy. Last month, he was accused of having an angry outburst against co-host Kaitlan Collins.
It’s clear that Lemon is not the right fit for this show, and it appears that new CNN boss Chris Licht is beginning to realize it. In a “Coffee with Chris” meeting with staffers, Licht said, “People say stupid things and that if it’s a trend, then there’s recourse.”
Lemon’s offensive comment not only had a negative effect on his co-hosts, but on the show as a whole. Despite being the “crown jewel” of Licht’s early moves at the network, “CNN This Morning” is struggling in the ratings and behind its canceled predecessor “New Day”.
Licht’s response to the scandal was swift. During a “editorial call” on Friday morning, he expressed his disappointment with Lemon’s remark, calling it “upsetting, unacceptable and unfair to his co-hosts, and ultimately a huge distraction to the great work of this organization.”
Lemon responded to Licht’s statement, saying he was “sorry” and he “did not mean to hurt or offend anyone.” He went on to explain that “the people I’m closest to in this organization are women” such as Dana Bash and Erin Burnett.
It’s an insult to Lemon’s female colleagues that he would think his sexist comment would be acceptable, and it’s a slap in the face to CNN viewers that the network would continue to employ someone with such a blatant disregard for women.

Unfortunately, this is all too common in the liberal media. Lemon’s sexist comment is just another example of the corruption within the media, and it highlights the need for stricter standards in the industry. It’s time for the liberal media to hold themselves to a higher standard and to start treating women with the respect they deserve.
