It’s no secret that crime rates in many American cities have skyrocketed in recent years, and unfortunately, it seems that many Democratic politicians are more interested in coddling criminals than protecting law-abiding citizens.

Case in point: Kim Gardner, the embattled St. Louis Circuit Attorney who has been facing backlash for her handling of a recent case involving a 21-year-old man who was out on bail and subsequently caused a horrific car accident that left a teenage girl with life-altering injuries.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has rightly taken legal action to have Gardner removed from office, citing her negligence of duty. But predictably, Gardner and her supporters are crying foul, claiming that she’s facing “race harassment” and that the real issue is voter suppression (because apparently, holding elected officials accountable for their actions is somehow a violation of people’s rights).

During a recent press conference, Gardner was repeatedly questioned by reporters about the handling of the case and why her office failed to take stronger action to revoke the suspect’s bail before the accident occurred.

Instead of answering the questions directly, Gardner dodged and weaved, spouting vague platitudes about doing her job “fairly and justly” and claiming that her office has been the victim of “vitriol, hate, and racist attacks.”

But the fact remains that Gardner’s office dropped the ball in this case, and it’s not the first time. She has a history of being soft on crime and failing to hold dangerous criminals accountable for their actions. And yet, she continues to enjoy support from the Democratic establishment, who seem more interested in virtue signaling than protecting innocent people from violent crime.

Watch

It’s time for a change. We need leaders who are willing to take a tough stance on crime and hold criminals accountable for their actions, regardless of their race or background. We need policies that prioritize public safety over political correctness. And we need to stop coddling criminals and start standing up for law-abiding citizens.
