It’s hard to believe Senator Bernie Sanders’ suggestion that the government should confiscate all wealth exceeding $999 million. This proposal is a radical one and is a major departure from the progressive tax policy of the Eisenhower era.
The idea of the government confiscating such wealth is an extreme example of socialism at its worst. It completely disregards a person’s hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.
It also ignores the fact that many of those with considerable wealth have used their money to benefit society in many ways, from charitable donations to the development of new technology.
Moreover, Sanders’ plan would create disincentives to achievement and success, as it would punish those who strive to build a better life for themselves and their families.
It also places an undue burden on the wealthy by forcing them to pay a larger percentage of their income in taxes.
This proposal also goes against President Biden’s commitment to promoting economic growth and job creation. Biden’s economic plan calls for investments in infrastructure and clean energy, as well as tax relief for the middle class. All of these investments would be undermined if Sanders’ proposal was implemented.
Finally, Sanders’ proposal would create a huge economic burden for the government. With the government confiscating all wealth over $999 million, there would be a massive drop in taxable income, resulting in a decrease in government revenues. This would significantly reduce the government’s ability to pay for important programs and services.
Bernie Sanders’ proposal to confiscate all money people make over $999 million per year is an extreme example of socialism and a dangerous departure from the progressive tax policy of the Eisenhower era.
It would create disincentives to success, undermine President Biden’s economic goals, and place a huge economic burden on the government.
The socialist senator made the remarks during an interview with Chris Wallace on CNN’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace.”
“Sir, you’re saying that billionaires should not exist,” Wallace said. “So are you basically saying that once you get to $999 million, the government should confiscate all the rest?”
“I’m saying that we should go back to a very progressive tax policy like what we had under Dwight D. Eisenhower,” Sanders said.
“Which would mean that, over a billion dollars, it basically all goes to the government?” Wallace pressed.
“Yeah,” Sanders responded. “You may disagree with me, fine. Yeah, I think people can make it on $999 million.”

Obviously, the amount Sanders mentioned that he thinks should be ‘capped’ is up there and doesn’t seem like it could affect Americans but capping success has never worked out well. We can look and Cuba and see the final results of end-stage socialism.
