Burt Young, celebrated for his numerous acting roles, is best known for portraying Paulie, Rocky Balboa’s brother-in-law. Young once commented on the character, saying, “I portrayed him as a tough guy with a tender side. He’s actually a softy, despite all the bluster.”

Stallone personally selected Young for this role, as revealed in a 2017 interview recounted by The New York Times. Young reminisced, “[Stallone] came up to me, knelt down, and said, ‘Mr. Young, I’m Sylvester Stallone. I wrote Rocky,’ and then he implored, ‘You’ve got to do it, please.’ He was really trying to persuade me.”
