Following the second GOP debate in Simi Valley, California at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump sat down with Fox News Digital for an exclusive interview.

In the sit-down, Trump blasted his competitors and emphasized the importance of the Michigan auto workers that he decided to join instead of attending the debate.

“I thought it was much more important, considering I have a 56-point lead, for me to be dealing with the UAW and the fact that the Biden administration is going to destroy their jobs over the next two years by going all-electric vehicle,” Trump told the outlet.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Trump spoke to hundreds of auto workers in Clinton Township, Michigan for about an hour. Following his speech, Trump took time to shake hands with those in attendance. He also toured Drake Enterprises, an automotive parts manufacturer and supplier in Michigan, before his remarks.

“We’re going to take their money, we’re going to take their factories, we’re going to rebuild the industrial bedrock of this country. By the time this battle is over, the rusted-out factories will not be here in Michigan, they’ll be in Beijing, Shanghai, and other parts of the world,” Trump told the crowd.

“The crowd was incredible — unreal. I think we have great support to save the autoworker,” the 45th president explained.

During the debate, former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), who has made it a priority of his to attack Trump, criticized the president for refusing to debate his competitors.

“Donald, I know you’re watching. You can’t help yourself. You’re ducking these things. And let me tell you what’s going to happen. You keep doing that, no one here’s going to call you Donald Trump anymore.,” Christie said, adding, “We’re going to call you Donald Duck.”

In response to the nickname, Trump told Fox, “Anybody that would come up with that nickname shouldn’t be running for president.”

Trump also took to Truth Social to blas the former New Jersey governor, writing, “Chris Christie is talking about the job he did as Governor. He had a 9% approval rating. N.J. wanted to throw the “bum” out. Also, I built almost 500 miles of Wall (not 50, Sloppy Chris!), got Mexico to give us 28,000 soldiers (free of charge!), and had the safest and best Border in U.S. History, with record-low drugs coming in!”
