Hunter Biden’s Lawyer Abbe Lowell Doesn’t Deny WhatsApp Texts, Raises Concerns about Misinformation Campaign
Abbe Lowell, the lawyer representing Hunter Biden, issued a letter on Friday that refrained from denying the authenticity of the WhatsApp texts revealed by an IRS whistleblower.
This is the second instance in two weeks involving different lawyers where the denial of the contents of Hunter Biden’s texts was not explicitly made.
Last week, a WhatsApp text surfaced showing Hunter Biden demanding payment from a businessman linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) while being “sitting” next to his father, which was confirmed to be Hunter’s message.
Another text revealed Hunter Biden asking a second associate, Gongwen “Kevin” Dong, for $10 million and mentioning that the Biden family excels at “doing exactly what the chairman wants.”
In his letter to members of the congressional House committee, Lowell did not deny that the words in the texts belonged to Hunter Biden. However, he claimed that the graphics of the text screenshots were fabricated.
Lowell stated, “In short, the images you circulated online are complete fakes,” without directly addressing the content of the messages sent to CCP-linked individuals.
Additionally, Lowell accused House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith of fueling a misinformation campaign to harm Hunter Biden and using the disclosure of IRS whistleblower transcripts as a means to attack Joe Biden.
He said, “Your attempt to protect the IRS agents was a transparent effort to provide cover to those with a bias and an agenda to evade answering for their own conduct under oath.”
Lowell further alleged that the whistleblowers disclosed information to Congress in an attempt to evade their own misconduct, accusing Smith of violating federal laws by disclosing statements from IRS agents.
This letter follows a statement from Hunter Biden’s criminal defense attorney, Chris Clark, who acknowledged that the initial 2017 WhatsApp text demanding money from a CCP-linked businessman while “sitting” next to his father was indeed Hunter’s message.
Clark emphasized that the Department of Justice’s investigation covered a period marked by turmoil and addiction for his client, attributing any verifiable words or actions during that time to Hunter alone, with no connection to his family.
Coincidentally, on the same day, Breitbart News reported that the Biden family business received $5.1 million within ten days of Hunter Biden’s first message to a CCP-linked businessman associated with the Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC Energy, as stated in the 2020 Senate report on the Biden family.
