Within the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, Big Bend, and El Paso Sectors, Border Patrol agents apprehended an alarming 1,216,501 migrants during the recently concluded Fiscal Year 23. A year prior, these dedicated agents apprehended 1,395,690 migrants in these critical Texas-based border sectors.
This brings the staggering total of migrants apprehended to a harrowing 2,612,191 over the last two fiscal years, as reported by the CBP Nationwide Encounters Report. This surpasses the population of the city of Houston, which stands at 2,302,878, by more than 309,000 people—a number that’s only slightly less than the population of Corpus Christi. Since President Joe Biden assumed office in January 2021, agents within the five Texas-based border sectors have apprehended a staggering 3,576,000 migrants who have crossed between ports of entry. This figure exceeds the combined population of the counties of Bexar (San Antonio) and Travis (Austin) by more than 250,000 individuals.

Of the 1.2 million migrants apprehended in the Texas-based border sectors in the last year, more than half, totaling 652,000, hailed from Mexico and the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. An additional 195,811 came from Venezuela, as per the report, and nearly 8,000 were Chinese migrants.
The surge of migrants into the Lone Star State persists into Fiscal Year 24. Just last week, a shocking report by Breitbart Texas’ Randy Clark detailed the apprehension of over 1,800 migrants in the Del Rio Sector within a mere 24 hours.
Even more disconcerting is the mounting number of individuals designated as “Special Interest Aliens” by Border Patrol, hailing from nations with known ties to terrorism. During the second week of October, Del Rio Sector agents apprehended six Iranian nationals, three Lebanese nationals, one Egyptian national, and one Saudi Arabian national who made landfall in the Eagle Pass area of operations. The gravity of this situation demands immediate attention and action at a national level.
