In the initial stages of the general election, a recent Ipsos/Reuters survey indicates that Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in a head-to-head matchup.

The survey reveals Trump’s advantage with a six-point lead, securing 40 percent support compared to Biden’s 34 percent. This marks a shift from the early January survey, where Trump and Biden were tied.

Interestingly, the inclusion of third-party candidates, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., does not diminish Trump’s lead.

Even with Kennedy in the mix, Trump maintains a six-point lead, garnering 36 percent support against Biden’s 30 percent and Kennedy’s eight percent.

The survey, conducted among 1,250 U.S. adults, aligns with the Harvard/Harris survey, reinforcing Trump’s lead over Biden by seven points — 48 percent to 41 percent — in a head-to-head matchup.

This lead expands to eight points when Kennedy is considered, with Trump at 41 percent, Biden at 33 percent, and Kennedy at 18 percent.

The gap widens further when additional third-party candidates, Cornel West and Jill Stein, are factored in. Trump’s lead grows to double digits, commanding 42 percent support against Biden’s 31 percent, with Kennedy following at 15 percent, and West and Stein each securing two percent support.

Notably, Trump maintains a lead among independent voters, capturing 41 percent support from this demographic. Amidst these survey results, there are growing calls for former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to exit the race.

Even the Republican National Committee (RNC) chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has urged Haley to withdraw, expressing skepticism about her viability in the race and emphasizing the need for Republican unity to focus on defeating Biden in November.
