Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House from California, made an announcement to the House of Representatives on Wednesday, revealing that she had received a subpoena requesting the production of documents for a criminal case in California.

The House Clerk, following standard procedure for members served with a subpoena in civil or criminal matters, relayed Pelosi’s statement to the House. Pelosi’s official statement, as per the rules of the House of Representatives, declared, “This is to formally inform you, in accordance with Rule Eight of the House of Representatives’ rules, that I, the Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker Emerita, and U.S. Representative for the 11th Congressional District of California, have been served with third-party subpoenas from both the prosecution and the defendant. These subpoenas demand the production of documents in a criminal case in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.”

Furthermore, Pelosi’s statement clarified, “After consulting with the Office of General Counsel, I have concluded that complying with these subpoenas is consistent with the privileges of the House, to the extent that it pertains to non-privileged information. The responses to these subpoenas will be uniform.”
Although Pelosi’s office refrained from commenting on the ongoing legal matter, an insider familiar with the situation disclosed to Fox News Digital that the subpoena was linked to the imminent trial of the individual accused of assaulting Paul Pelosi during a violent home invasion last year. The alleged attacker, David DePape, is scheduled to face trial later this month.
