In 2014, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now an independent presidential candidate, was involved in a peculiar incident that left New York City puzzled. Kennedy retrieved a bear that had been killed by a motorist and left it in Central Park with a bicycle on top, sparking a mystery that consumed the city for days. Yes, read that again, 2014, just 10 years ago. It’s not like this was when he was in his teens and this was a senior prank for his graduating high school class. This was a grown man who’s family is so deep rooted in politics, they can be considered America’s version of Buckingham Palace.

Kennedy recounted the 2014 event in a video posted on social media on Sunday, indicating that it would be included in an article by The New Yorker, which he expected to be damaging. The article, published on Monday, included a photograph of Kennedy with his fingers in the bear’s bloodied mouth, a mock grimace on his face, and a bloodstain on his left pant leg. But this is what we do now, we photo everything. Part of me wants to laugh because I absolutely love inappropriate humor and pranks; but the other part of me has mellowed out so much over the past decade, that there is a massive cringe factor to what he did.
According to Kennedy, he was heading to a falconry excursion with friends when the incident occurred. A woman driving ahead of him hit and killed a young bear with her vehicle. Kennedy decided to take the bear carcass with him, intending to skin it and eat the meat, which I have personally had and is absolutely outstanding. However, as the day progressed, his plans changed. He ended up in Manhattan and needed to get the bear out of his vehicle. His friends, influenced by alcohol, suggested a prank: leaving the bear in Central Park with a bicycle on top, making it appear as though the bear had been hit by a bike. Kennedy stated he was not drunk himself at the time. A. I find it suspect that he was not impaired but I will choose to believe him and B. yes, it is actually funny to think of leaving the bear with the bike on it. That is the side of me that used to appreciate foul humor.

Two women walking their dogs discovered the dead bear in Central Park and alerted authorities. The bear’s presence in the park, which does not have bears among its known wildlife population, sparked a media frenzy. The bike found with the bear was dusted for fingerprints, and the bear was sent to Albany for a necropsy. The necropsy revealed that the bear had likely been hit by a vehicle, not a victim of animal cruelty. Despite this, how the bear ended up in Central Park remained a mystery.
Kennedy expressed concern in the video about his fingerprints being on the bike, which added to the intrigue surrounding the incident. Or in other words, he sobered up and realized this could absolutely harm his image.
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation, which enforces wildlife laws, concluded its investigation after determining through forensic analysis that the bear had died from injuries consistent with a high-speed collision. Possessing a bear without a tag or permit or illegally disposing of a dead bear are offenses in New York, punishable by fines of up to $250. However, the department stated that charges could not be brought for violations that occurred more than a year ago. And we know that no politician is ever held accountable for anything unless your last name is Trump.
Kennedy declined to speak to reporters on Monday in Albany, where he was attending a civil trial related to his efforts to get on the ballot in New York. A group attempting to exclude him from the state’s ballot had filed a lawsuit, claiming that Kennedy lied on nomination papers about where he lives, which should absolutely be addressed and dealt with. Any and all lies from politicians should be taken beyond seriously, as these people work for us and we have let them get off the hook way too often.

Kennedy’s campaign has been marked by various controversies, including a recent acknowledgment of a parasite that lodged in his brain and died and to me, that alone is a reason I do not want him to run for office, let alone be in charge of anything. Did we not have enough of Fetterman or Pelosi as an example of what brain dead people in power are like? He also denied claims of eating a dog after a friend shared a photo with Vanity Fair magazine showing Kennedy appearing to prepare to take a bite of a charred animal, which Kennedy stated was a goat.
This latest revelation adds to the series of bizarre incidents in Kennedy’s campaign, which has divided his famous family and raised concerns among Republicans and Democrats about his potential impact on the presidential contest. The incident has brought renewed scrutiny to Kennedy’s actions and character, as he navigates the challenges of his independent candidacy.
Bottom line for me is that I am tired of legacy families and I have no clue why Americans are quick to have ANOTHER Kennedy in office. The people love celebrity and if you stand in solidarity with them over a very powerful social issue (like the vaccine) such as Kennedy did, them they will just about look past anything you did.
Just look at Joe Biden for proof.
