As the 2024 U.S. presidential election approaches, the political landscape is dominated by the intense rivalry between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

This high-stakes contest is shaping up to be one of the most contentious and closely watched elections in American history, with both candidates mobilizing their bases and setting out their visions for the future of the nation.

Let’s face it, our nation is headed into an utter garbage dumpster fire of an election season, and we know the Democrats will 100% try to rig this election, and if we aren’t too lucky, we will end up with Harris flushing us down the pipe.

Kamala Harris, the first female, first Black, and first South Asian Vice President, is running for the presidency with a campaign focused on progressive policies and unity. Her historic candidacy is seen by many as a continuation of the Obama-Biden legacy, with an emphasis on inclusivity, social justice, and economic reform.  Or at least this is what the lying joke of a main stream media would have you believe.  She is a DEI appointed position, who allegedly used her sexuality to gain her position, which, let’s face it, is how many men and women have climbed the latter.  If only they had the spine to admit it.

Harris’s platform includes robust climate action, expanded healthcare access, and comprehensive immigration reform. She has also been a vocal advocate for voting rights and criminal justice reform, seeking to address systemic inequalities that have long plagued the United States. Her campaign slogan, “Forward Together,” encapsulates her vision of a united America moving towards a more equitable future.  Again, this is more of what the media wants you to believe, but seriously, this woman gives speeches that make soup sandwiches look like a good idea.

Donald Trump, seeking to return to the Oval Office after his defeat in 2020 (I mean stolen election), is campaigning on a platform of economic nationalism and law and order. His “Make America Great Again, Again” campaign resonates with his base, which remains loyal and energized. Trump’s message focuses on reducing government regulation, securing the borders, and maintaining a strong military presence. To me, pretty much common sense issues.

Trump’s tenure from 2016 to 2020 was marked by significant policy shifts, including tax cuts, deregulation, and a contentious approach to international trade. His promise to “drain the swamp” (which didn’t seem to me to ever have happened) of Washington insiders continues to appeal to voters disillusioned with the political establishment. Despite numerous legal challenges and ongoing investigations aka witch hunts and weaponized politics, Trump remains a formidable force in American politics.

Key Issues at Stake (I truly tried writing this without bias)

1. Economy and Jobs: Both candidates are keenly aware that economic performance will be a critical factor in the election. Harris advocates for raising the minimum wage, investing in green jobs, and expanding access to education and training. Trump, on the other hand, emphasizes tax cuts, deregulation, and incentives for businesses to boost job creation.

2. Healthcare: Healthcare remains a divisive issue. Harris supports expanding the Affordable Care Act and introducing a public option to provide more Americans with affordable healthcare. Trump continues to push for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, advocating for a market-based approach to healthcare.

3. Climate Change: Harris’s climate policy includes ambitious goals for reducing carbon emissions and investing in renewable energy. Trump, who withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement during his presidency, focuses on energy independence and supports the continued use of fossil fuels.

4. Immigration: Harris supports comprehensive immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Trump’s immigration policy centers on border security and strict enforcement of immigration laws, including the continuation of the border wall.

5. Foreign Policy: Harris aims to rebuild alliances and restore America’s standing on the global stage through diplomacy and multilateral cooperation. Trump’s foreign policy is characterized by a more isolationist stance, emphasizing “America First” and renegotiating international agreements to favor U.S. interests.

The Role of Voter Turnout

Voter turnout will be crucial in determining the outcome of the 2024 election. Both campaigns are investing heavily in grassroots mobilization and voter outreach. Harris’s campaign is particularly focused on engaging young voters and minority communities, while Trump’s campaign is targeting rural areas and working-class voters who were pivotal to his previous electoral success. Unless it is like voter turn out here in Chicago where out of 2.7 million citizens, only 600k come out to vote. Democrats, of course.

History has always been written by the winners.  Matty Whack and I have some uncomfortable conversations about Germany in the 1930’s.

Challenges and Controversies

Harris faces the challenge of uniting a Democratic Party that has factions with varying priorities and ideologies. She also must contend with criticism from conservatives who view her policies as too progressive. Trump, meanwhile, continues to deal with the fallout from his previous administration, including ongoing investigations and legal battles. Was hard to write that without laughing. She is a DEI puppet and there is not one damn thing you should take seriously about that woman, sans her ability to destroy America.

The media landscape is another battleground, with both candidates utilizing social media and traditional outlets to shape their narratives and counteract misinformation. The role of misinformation and its impact on voter perception is a significant concern for both campaigns.
