A 16-month-old baby has died while her mother, now charged with murder, left her alone in Cleveland while she was gone on an 8-day vacation to Puerto Rico and Detroit

Kristel Candelario, 31, told the police that she found her 16-month-old daughter Jailyn unresponsive at home after returning from Puerto Rico last June 16.

Although the cause of death had not been released by the medical examiner yet, the investigators said that the child was “extremely dehydrated.”

Authorities also noted that Jailyn’s Pack ‘N Play “consisted of soiled blankets and a bottom liner saturated with urine and feces.”

Suleym Gonzalez, a neighbor, said: “Her (the baby’s) mom always wanted to go out and just left her with her grandma and all that.”

Candelario has been charged with murder and is held on a $1 million bond. Her pre-trial hearing is scheduled on June 28.

similar incident happened in 2019 after Verphy Kudi left her 20-month-old Asiah to celebrate her 18th birthday.

After six days of partying in London and Coventry, Kudi found her daughter unresponsive. According to reports, the baby died of “starvation and influenza, with reported signs of dehydration and severe nappy rash.”

Candelario left her daughter alone and without care inside their home from June 8 to June 16, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office reports. When she returned Friday, she found the child unresponsive.

Officials pronounced the child dead at the scene and said she was “extremely dehydrated.”

Candelario was arrested and charged with murder. She was arraigned Tuesday, June 20, and taken to the Cuyahoga County Jail on a $1 million bond.
