Washed-up actress and proud Marxist activist Jane Fonda stirred up controversy during the Cannes Film Festival with her remarks, sparking a heated response on social media.
Fonda, known for her far-left activism, called for the arrest and imprisonment of men, specifically targeting white men, for their alleged role in the “climate crisis.”
In her statement, Fonda expressed her belief that stopping the climate crisis required taking drastic measures. She said, “It is a tragedy that we have to absolutely stop. We have to arrest and jail those men — they’re all men [behind this]. There would be no climate crisis if there was no racism.”
Fonda also criticized what she perceived as the prioritization of white men over other groups, suggesting that it marginalized other important issues.

This sparked dismay among veterans who still remembered Fonda’s controversial actions during the Vietnam War. In 1972, Fonda famously posed for photographs on an NVA anti-aircraft gun, a weapon used against American warplanes.
She also made broadcasts through the communist regime’s propaganda station, “radio Hanoi,” denouncing American prisoners of war (POWs) and advocating for their execution, while encouraging the North Vietnamese to resist “American imperialism.”
The Twitterverse swiftly reminded the public of Fonda’s divisive past, resurrecting the label “Hanoi Jane” in reference to her actions in Vietnam.
