Former Vice President Mike Pence’s recent declaration of his inability to “in good conscience” endorse Donald Trump for the Republican nomination is nothing short of a betrayal.

As a staunch supporter of Trump and his policies, Pence’s stance is not just disappointing but infuriating. It’s a stab in the back from someone who should have remained loyal to the man who chose him as his running mate.

In his interview on Fox News, Pence made it sound as though Trump had veered drastically from the conservative agenda they purportedly championed during their time in office.

He cited differences on issues like abortion, the national debt, and even TikTok as reasons for his withdrawal of support. This sudden denouncement of Trump is not only hypocritical but also deeply disloyal.

Pence’s refusal to endorse Trump in the 2024 primary, despite his previous vow to support the eventual nominee, is a slap in the face to the millions of voters who put their trust in the Trump-Pence ticket.

Trump himself rightfully pointed out the disloyalty that runs rampant in politics, and Pence’s actions only confirm this sad reality.

While Pence claims to be proud of the Trump-Pence administration’s record, his words and actions speak otherwise. It’s clear that he is more concerned with distancing himself from Trump than standing by the accomplishments they achieved together. This is not the behavior expected from someone who held the second-highest office in the country.

Pence’s refusal to disclose his choice for the 2024 general election is cowardly at best. It’s evident that he lacks the courage to stand behind his convictions and openly support the candidate he believes in. Instead, he opts to keep his vote a secret while simultaneously ruling out any possibility of backing President Joe Biden or a third-party candidate.

Perhaps the most egregious act of betrayal was Pence’s decision not to overturn the 2020 election results, despite pressure from Trump and his supporters. By certifying Biden’s win, Pence essentially turned his back on the very person who gave him the platform to serve as vice president. His justification of Trump’s actions on January 6th as “reckless” only adds insult to injury.

Pence’s recent foray into promoting conservative policies through his group, Advancing American Freedom, reeks of opportunism. It’s as if he’s trying to salvage his reputation by aligning himself with the very ideals he abandoned when he distanced himself from Trump. But true conservatives see through this thinly veiled attempt to save face.

In conclusion, Mike Pence’s refusal to endorse Donald Trump and his subsequent criticisms are nothing short of a betrayal to the millions of Americans who supported the Trump-Pence administration. As a pro-Trump voter, it’s deeply disappointing to see someone who was once considered an ally turn their back on the very principles they claimed to uphold. Pence’s actions speak volumes about his character, and history will remember him not as a principled conservative, but as a traitor to the cause he once purported to champion.
