According to law enforcement sources disclosed to CNN, the victims, a local New York man and his unidentified wife, had intended to attend a KISS concert in Canada, only to find out that the event had been canceled. Subsequently, the couple spent a brief night visiting a casino near the border. Tragically, the speeding Bentley they were traveling in collided with the Rainbow Bridge border crossing.
Sources indicate that the vehicle struck a curb on the US side of the border, became airborne, and erupted in flames upon impact, as reported by the FBI field office in Buffalo, New York.

The explosion initially raised concerns of a potential terrorist attack, leading Canadian and New York officials to temporarily close all border bridges between the two nations and ground planes at Buffalo Airport. However, Governor Kathy Hochul later clarified in a press conference that there was “no sign of terrorist activity” involved in the incident. Subsequently, three of the four cross-border bridges were reopened.
The FBI Buffalo branch concluded its investigation on Wednesday evening, determining that there were “no explosive materials” and “no terrorism nexus” associated with the explosion, according to an official statement.
At present, investigators posit that the tragic event unfolded when two individuals, traveling at high speeds, crashed their vehicle at the bridge, resulting in a fiery explosion. The Niagara Falls Police Department will now assume control of the ongoing investigation.
