On Wednesday, the Biden administration went ahead and forgave another $6.1 billion in student loans, this time for 317,000 borrowers who attended any Art Institute campus between 2004 and 2017.
Yes, that’s right. The Art Institute, a notorious for-profit college chain, was forced to shut down because of a slew of legal issues, and now Biden’s just handing out taxpayer money like candy to cover their debts.
Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona actually had the audacity to claim, “For more than a decade, hundreds of thousands of hopeful students borrowed billions to attend The Art Institutes and got little but lies in return.” As if that’s a reason to just forgive billions of dollars in loans—without Congress’s approval or even a second thought about what it means for hardworking Americans who didn’t go to college or paid their own way!
But let’s not forget, this is coming from the same administration that tried to blow off the Supreme Court when it ruled Biden’s plan to forgive $430 billion in student loans was unconstitutional. Instead of respecting the Court’s decision, Biden just kept trying to sneak through more loan forgiveness. It’s all part of his desperate bid to win over young, progressive voters by sticking the tab on responsible taxpayers.

It gets worse. Biden’s Department of Education said the Art Institutes misled students about jobs and salaries, so that’s why they deserve this forgiveness. But hold on—what about accountability? What about setting a precedent that says, “Hey, you can’t just go to school on the government’s dime and expect taxpayers to bail you out when it goes south”? And while we’re at it, why is Biden unilaterally deciding to forgive loans without even asking Congress, which represents the will of the American people?
Let’s not forget that Republican-led states have already filed a lawsuit against Biden’s SAVE Plan, which has given away money to more than 150,000 people without proper authorization. Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach said it perfectly: “The law simply does not allow President Biden to do what he wants to do.” But Biden doesn’t care. He’s hell-bent on pushing through these giveaways to boost his political standing, even though polls show his support among young voters is tanking. A recent CNN poll found that Trump leads Biden by 11 points among 18 to 34-year-olds. And why? Because even young voters see through Biden’s desperate antics.

The bottom line is this: Biden is playing fast and loose with your money, ignoring the Supreme Court, and disrespecting the legislative process—all for a political win. This should alarm every American who values accountability and the rule of law.
