A Chicago suburb issued an emergency declaration on Thursday in response to the arrival of several dozen migrants, as stated in a press release.

The Village of Oak Park has extended assistance to more than 100 migrants who required shelter due to cold weather conditions. Most of these migrants were previously residing outside a Chicago Police Department station.

This is how systemic racism is created:

On October 30, the Chicago suburb allocated $150,000 for supporting migrants, in addition to $150,000 in grant funding from the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, as outlined in the press release. Village Manager Kevin J. Jackson also established an emergency operations center on November 1 to facilitate the provision of shelter to the migrants.

With the collaboration of local faith-based organizations, the Village of Oak Park has been able to provide assistance to migrants in the form of translation services and medical care. Nonetheless, community leaders have requested a temporary halt to donations of supplies and meals, as there is a plan in place to assist migrants in the short term.

The press release further stated, “Following the activation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Wednesday, the Village’s emergency response plan for this situation is still being developed. Once finalized, officials anticipate seeking ongoing support from the community to address the needs of the migrant population.”

In recent years, federal authorities at the southern border have witnessed a significant increase in illegal immigration. A review of fiscal year 2023 data by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed that the number of migrants who entered the U.S. either after being apprehended by law enforcement or evading authorities exceeds the populations of 11 states.
