Security officers at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland exchanged gunfire with multiple active shooters who attempted to breach the main gate at the Chapman Training Annex early Saturday morning. According to reports from KSAT, the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m., and while the exact number of shooters remains unclear, it was confirmed that none of them were affiliated with the military.
Fox News provided additional details, reporting that the suspects, who were in a sedan, fired at the main gate, prompting security forces to return fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the gate was closed for several hours following the incident. The suspects did not attempt to enter the base, and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
Spokesperson Stefanie Antosh confirmed that there was no ongoing threat to the installation and that security forces acted swiftly to neutralize the situation. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details about the suspects have been released at this time.
