The Biden administration’s border disaster continues to spiral out of control as shocking reports reveal more than 800,000 Venezuelan migrants have flooded into the U.S. over the past four years. Among them are hundreds of members of Tren de Aragua, a vicious Venezuelan prison gang now setting up shop in at least 16 states. And what is the Biden administration’s response? To give up on deporting these criminals altogether.
Biden’s Hands-Off Approach: A Gift to Criminals
In January, Biden’s team quietly stopped deportation flights to Venezuela after dictator Nicolás Maduro’s regime refused to accept them. The result? Dangerous gang members, identified as threats to public safety, are being released into American communities.
This is the same administration that granted Venezuelans temporary protected status, shielding them from deportation and offering them fast-tracked work permits. What message does this send? To criminal gangs, it says, “Come on in!”
Take, for example, Niefred Serpa-Acosta, a known Tren de Aragua member with tattoos to prove it. Arrested for theft and released by ICE in July, Serpa-Acosta was back in the headlines a month later for allegedly being part of an armed crew that stormed a Colorado apartment complex.
How does this happen? Under Biden’s watch, even admitted gang members are being let loose. It’s almost as if protecting American citizens isn’t a priority anymore.
The Trump Plan: Order Restored
Enter President-elect Donald Trump. With a promise to clean up Biden’s mess, Trump has tapped Tom Homan as his border czar, and Homan isn’t pulling any punches. He’s confident the Trump administration can force Maduro to accept deportations.
“Trump got El Salvador to take back MS-13. He got Mexico to agree to the Remain in Mexico program,” Homan said. “I have faith in President Trump to work with the president of Venezuela.”
The strategy? Trump is prepared to wield America’s economic power to bring Maduro to the table. In 2023 alone, the U.S. provided $209 million in aid to Venezuela. Imagine what would happen if Trump threatens to withhold it or ramps up sanctions? The message will be loud and clear: take back your criminals, or face the consequences.
How Did It Get This Bad?
Let’s not forget how we got here. Venezuela’s socialist regime, led by Nicolás Maduro, has plunged the country into economic ruin. Millions of Venezuelans have fled, seeking refuge from corruption, food shortages, and poverty. But Biden’s policies have turned America into a magnet for the worst elements of this exodus.
Tren de Aragua, known for its brutal tactics, saw an opportunity. Posing as asylum seekers, gang members avoided detection by forgoing their signature tattoos. Their timing couldn’t have been better, as border security under Biden’s leadership has been more porous than ever.
Ron Vitiello, former acting ICE chief, noted that there was no record of Tren de Aragua members in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data before 2021. “Think of that. That’s incredible,” Vitiello said. “I never heard of Tren de Aragua until after I left in 2021 when it became a thing in New York.”
In other words, this gang’s infiltration is a Biden-era problem.
Trump’s Tough Solutions
Trump’s plan isn’t just about rhetoric—it’s about action. Experts have floated several strategies for restarting deportations:
- Economic Pressure: Former DEA official Wes Tabor believes Trump will crush Maduro’s regime economically if it resists. “They won’t have a choice,” Tabor said.
- Forceful Returns: Venezuelan dissident Daniel Di Martino has suggested deporting migrants directly to Venezuela’s coast without waiting for Maduro’s permission. The U.S. has done this with Haiti in the past, proving it’s possible.
- Partnering with Other Countries: Trump could also negotiate with nations like Colombia to house deported migrants. While Colombia is dealing with its own refugee crisis, Trump’s track record suggests he could strike a deal.
Biden’s Legacy: Chaos and Crime
Under Biden, Americans have been left to deal with the fallout of an administration that prioritizes ideology over safety. Communities are paying the price as dangerous gang members roam free, and hardworking taxpayers foot the bill.
The moratorium on deportations doesn’t just benefit Venezuelan migrants seeking a better life—it protects criminals like the Tren de Aragua thugs who are now committing heinous crimes on American soil, including murder.
The Bottom Line
Biden’s reckless immigration policies have turned America into a dumping ground for criminals while law-abiding citizens are left to pick up the pieces. But with Trump returning to the White House, there’s hope on the horizon.
Trump has proven he can take on authoritarian regimes and win. Whether it’s MS-13 or Tren de Aragua, the message will be clear: the free ride is over.
For Biden and his open-border cronies, the collapse of America’s security might be just another day in Washington. But for Trump, it’s a call to action—and a promise to make America safe again.
