In what can only be described as the latest episode of “Celebrities Who Think We Care,” Barbra Streisand, 82, took to X (formerly Twitter) to once again remind us of her very important political opinions. This time, the legendary singer and actress aimed her digital fury at none other than Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the duo who dared to earn an income during their White House tenure. Yes, you heard that right, folks—working people who made money are apparently the latest scandal.

Streisand, ever the vigilant guardian of fairness, expressed her deep concern over the “injustice” of Ivanka and Jared’s financial success while they served as senior advisors in Donald Trump’s administration. Naturally, she also made sure to remind us all that Hunter Biden’s behavior shouldn’t be scrutinized because, hey, Trump’s daughter made money. Totally the same thing, right?
The legendary performer, in her now-trending post, lamented the “lack of attention” on Ivanka Trump and her earnings during her father’s time in office. You know, because Ivanka’s role in the Trump administration was apparently as newsworthy as Hunter Biden’s questionable presence at his father’s White House meetings. Streisand’s selective outrage would almost be amusing if it wasn’t so blatantly out of touch.
“The press was obsessed with Hunter Biden. But barely a word about how Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump made 82 million dollars while working in the White House,” Streisand declared, apparently hoping to stir the masses into some sort of righteous indignation. Never mind the fact that Ivanka and Jared didn’t take salaries from their White House positions, opting instead to continue earning money through legal business ventures. But that’s just a pesky detail, isn’t it?
It’s almost as if Streisand forgot—or perhaps just ignored—the financial disclosures that were publicly available, detailing the couple’s earnings. Ivanka made $3.9 million from her stake in the Trump International Hotel, $5 million from her clothing line, $2 million from the Trump Organization, and even managed to score a $289,000 advance for her book. Meanwhile, Jared pulled in a modest $70 million from his family’s real estate business. Legal businesses, legal earnings. But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good rant?

Of course, Streisand’s viral post attracted the predictable mix of praise and criticism. Some jumped on the bandwagon, pointing fingers at the infamous $2 billion deal with Saudi Arabia, which, by the way, has nothing to do with Hunter Biden’s, shall we say, “questionable” business dealings. But sure, let’s pretend this is the same thing.
Others, however, took a moment to remind everyone of an inconvenient truth: Jared and Ivanka earned their money through legal means, fully disclosed to the government, and went through all the proper channels. “Hey Babs, Jared and Ivanka went through all legal routes to earn and disclose their income, receiving government approval for their transactions,” one user pointed out. Oops, guess that doesn’t fit the narrative.
Meanwhile, Hunter Biden, the very person Streisand is so desperate to defend, has been accused of hiding tens of millions of dollars from foreign governments in exchange for access to Joe Biden. But Streisand seems to believe that comparing these two situations is fair and balanced. Oh, how far we’ve fallen when this passes for political discourse.
And let’s not forget the defense from Ivanka and Jared’s supporters, who were quick to point out that their income came from legitimate businesses. One commenter sarcastically chimed in, “What ‘legitimate business’ does Hunter have? What was he ‘selling?’” A question that, of course, remains unanswered by Streisand and the media elites who are all too happy to look the other way.
At the end of the day, it’s hard not to chuckle at the spectacle of yet another Hollywood figure thinking they’ve landed a political slam dunk, only to come off as wildly out of touch with the realities the rest of us live in. Celebrities weighing in on complex political matters as if their opinions carry any weight outside their fanbase has become a tired routine, and Streisand’s latest attempt is no different.
So, Barbra Streisand’s post went viral. But the real question is: does anyone actually care what she thinks anymore?
