In a shocking and infuriating turn of events, a 94-year-old veteran, Frank Tammaro, was callously evicted from a New York City nursing home to accommodate illegal immigrants, as reported by Fox News. Tammaro, a lifelong New Yorker and Army veteran who served during the Korean War, expressed his profound distress at being forced out of the senior center he once called home.

With over 130,000 migrants arriving in New York City in the last year and a half, as per The New York Times, Tammaro’s ordeal is emblematic of the city’s skewed priorities. “I felt horrible,” Tammaro lamented to Fox News. “It’s no joke getting thrown out of a house.” Adding insult to injury, Tammaro discovered that migrants were swiftly moved into the very senior center from which he was ousted.

Expressing his frustration, Tammaro stated, “I do get upset when I see them handing out all this money and all these things, and I’m paying taxes and getting kicked out. I’ve never got anything from the city. Or the state.” Despite his service to the nation, Tammaro found himself abandoned and displaced.

Even after relocating to another senior citizen center, Tammaro faced further challenges, eventually moving in with his daughter, Barbara Annunziata, after a hospitalization following a fall. Annunziata voiced her bewilderment, saying, “I don’t understand it at all. It’s not fair to anybody. These migrants, they’re getting everything. They’re getting everything, and I can’t get nothing for [Tammaro]. It angers me.”

The situation is exacerbated by Democratic Mayor Eric Adams’ budget cuts, including closing libraries on Sundays and freezing hiring for the New York Police Department, all in an attempt to address the costs associated with housing migrants in the city. Despite New York’s state government allocating $1.5 billion to aid the city, the daily expenditure of $8 million underscores the overwhelming burden.

The answer to “Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?”

Furthermore, efforts by Mayor Adams to bus migrants to other localities in New York face resistance from elected officials in those counties. The complex situation is further underscored by Republican Governor Greg Abbott of Texas and then-Republican Governor Doug Ducey of Arizona actively busing migrants to New York City and other designated “sanctuary” cities in 2022. The plight of Tammaro, a veteran who served his country, serves as a stark reminder of the broader challenges and controversies surrounding the handling of migrants in the city.
