In a bold move, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) has sent the first busload of illegal immigrants to Los Angeles, California – a self-declared sanctuary city.

The transport of 40 migrants is part of Abbott’s comprehensive plan to ease the burden on small border towns in Texas that are disproportionately impacted by the influx of migrants.

As immigration continues to be a major issue for America, many are asking why this move has been met with resistance from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

Abbott argued that due to President Biden’s reluctance to secure the border, many small communities in Texas continue to bear the brunt of migrant traffic and require assistance.

Thus, he proposed transporting migrants to cities like Los Angeles that have openly declared their sanctuary status in order to provide relief and refuge for them.

After being dropped off at Union Station, these individuals were cared for by various city agencies and charitable organizations; however, their country of origin remains undisclosed.

In response to Abbott’s decision, Bass issued an official statement indicating her disapproval and criticizing it as a political stunt used solely for personal gain.

Mayor Karen Bass today issued the following statement:

“It is abhorrent that an American elected official is using human beings as pawns in his cheap political games.

“This evening, more than 40 people were sent by the Governor of Texas to our City of Los Angeles.

“Shortly after I took office, I directed City Departments to begin planning in the event Los Angeles was on the receiving end of a despicable stunt that Republican Governors have grown so fond of.

“This did not catch us off guard, nor will it intimidate us. Now, it’s time to execute our plan. Our emergency management, police, fire and other departments were able to find out about the incoming arrival while the bus was on its way and were already mobilized along with nonprofit partners before the bus arrived.

She also instructed city departments throughout Los Angeles County to prepare for more out-of-state arrivals as Republican governors continue sending illegal aliens into Democratic states.

This reaction raises several questions about Bass’ commitment to safeguarding the rights of migrants considering her own city’s declaration as a sanctuary community meant specifically for providing protection and refuge.

Is it really possible to support the well-being of immigrants while simultaneously expressing displeasure at their arrival?

The controversial decision made by Governor Abbott has sparked much debate across the nation with regard to immigration policies and procedures among conservatives versus liberals – especially when it comes down between state versus federal authority over matters like this one.

Ultimately though, both sides must find common ground if they wish to make any further progress on this matter or else risk only further complicating an already difficult situation facing our nation today. Stopping the flow across the southern born must be the first step.
