Elon Musk, billionaire entrepreneur and the owner of Twitter, Tesla, and SpaceX is a political enigma who has had many different stances on various topics throughout his career.
At times he appears to be a full-blown libertarian, but at other times he seems left-leaning like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
His views on artificial intelligence and free speech have been especially conflicting as he worries about AI while investing in its advancement, and claims to support free speech while endorsing authoritarianism under the Chinese Communist Party. However, there is one issue that Elon Musk gets right – children transitioning.
When people talk about lobbying for change, they usually don’t make much of an impact as their words lack actionable bite.
But Elon Musk has enough influence to properly lobby for transformation if he desires due to his platform and power within the public sphere.
The topic of children transitioning requires special consideration because adults are basically allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t interfere with someone else’s rights, however, children are still developing emotionally and mentally which can lead them into making stupid decisions that will have permanent consequences without fully understanding what those implications might be down the line.
Musk’s stance on children transitioning is bang-on as adults should have control over their own bodies without interruption but kids are off-limits.
In response to a Tweet about increased suicides among those who have transitioned, he posted:
This is a major problem. I will be actively lobbying to criminalize making severe, irreversible changes to children below the age of consent.
