Joliet police have reported that a man, identified as 23-year-old Romeo Nance, wanted for a shooting spree that left nine people injured, eight of them fatally, across four different crime scenes, has been found dead.
The discovery was made by US Marshals near Natalia, Texas, around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Authorities believe Nance took his own life following a confrontation with Texas law enforcement officials.

Earlier on Monday, Joliet police responded to the 2200 block of West Acres Road, discovering two people dead in one home and five more dead in another. The victims’ names, genders, and ages have not been released. The night before, Will County Deputy Sheriff Dan Jungles reported that deputies found 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare with a gunshot wound to the head at a home on 5 Pheasant Run Lane. Bakare, originally from Nigeria, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. Another shooting connected to the same vehicle occurred about 10 minutes earlier, resulting in a 42-year-old man being wounded in the leg.

Despite identifying the suspect and the vehicle involved, law enforcement was initially unable to locate Nance. After setting up surveillance near his last known address, deputies discovered blood outside the residence and entered, finding two people fatally shot. The second house, where five more victims were found dead, belonged to some of Nance’s relatives.
Joliet Chief Bill Evans described the crime scene as the worst he has encountered in his 29-year career. While police do not believe Bakare is related to the victims discovered on Monday, they suggest a connection between him and Nance. Nance is believed to have a criminal history, though details were not provided. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Joliet Police Department.
