On Friday, a grand jury in New Mexico indicted Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin on charges of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film ‘Rust.’

The indictment comes after the incident in October 2021, where Baldwin, given a weapon that was accidentally loaded, unintentionally shot and killed Hutchins during the filming of the western movie in New Mexico.

Baldwin, who was rehearsing a scene, has consistently maintained that he did not pull the trigger, emphasizing that someone had placed a live bullet in the gun without authorization.

Baldwin was initially charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter by the New Mexico district attorney. However, those charges were subsequently dropped. The recent indictment carries a potential sentence of 18 months in prison for Baldwin. In a late 2021 NBC interview, Baldwin vehemently asserted, “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never. Someone put a live bullet in a gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.” The case has garnered significant attention, shedding light on safety protocols on film sets and the responsibility of those handling firearms during productions.
