A disturbing trend has emerged on TikTok, where a number of young Americans have shockingly expressed sympathy for Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the heinous September 11 attacks.
These individuals are rallying around a two-decade-old letter penned by Bin Laden that attempts to justify the senseless killing of American civilians.
The letter resurfaced on the social media platform, garnering at least 14 million views by Thursday.

Videos endorsing Bin Laden’s repulsive assertions and urging others to read the letter have circulated, framed within a broader critique of American support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas. TikTok, a platform popular among young Americans, claimed on Thursday that these videos violate its rules against promoting terrorism. However, TikTok provided no concrete data to support this claim, dismissing the significance of the issue.

It’s deeply unsettling that a platform predominantly used by individuals born after the 9/11 attacks is becoming a space for the glorification of a terrorist leader responsible for the deaths of thousands.
TikTok’s design complicates efforts to gauge the extent of this disturbing sentiment, but a CNN review found dozens of videos openly praising or sympathizing with the sentiments expressed in Bin Laden’s appalling “Letter to America.”
The hashtag #lettertoamerica has accumulated over 14 million views, reflecting a disturbing resonance among some users.

In one video that has since been taken down, a New York-based lifestyle influencer with over 1.6 million views encouraged others to read the letter, expressing a sudden existential crisis.
This incident underscores the urgency of addressing the alarming glorification of terrorism within TikTok’s user base.
