Donald Trump was interrupted by CNN host Kaitlan Collins during a Republican Presidential town hall on Wednesday. She pressed the former president on the 11 boxes of classified documents seized from his private home in Mar-a-Lago.
Trump accused Collins of being a “nasty person” and accused former President Barack Obama and other former commanders-in-chief of taking the same actions. He argued that he had the right to take the documents from the White House into his possession according to the Presidential Records Act.
Collins attempted to deflect Trump’s argument by claiming that Biden did not ignore a subpoena to send documents to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Trump responded by accusing NARA of being left-wing and claimed they “red flagged” the Constitution and Bill of Rights as “dangerous documents”.
Trump explained that he was working with NARA to return documents when they raided his home.
The Presidential Records Act states that presidents and NARA must manage the records of their administrations and make all presidential documents, minus those that are classified, public.
NARA requested that Trump hand over the 15 boxes of documents stored at Mar-a-Lago, and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said he “personally approved” of the FBI obtaining a search warrant.
The real issue at hand is why Joe Biden ignored the subpoena to send documents to NARA. It appears that Biden was trying to hide something and didn’t want the documents to be seen by the public. It’s clear that the mainstream media and the left-wing are trying to target Trump and make him out as a criminal.
It’s unfair to accuse Trump of breaking the law when he was simply following the Presidential Records Act. This is yet another example of the left’s double standards and hypocrisy. The media should be focusing on the real scandals, like the documents Joe Biden is trying to hide.
