Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy recently made some cringe-worthy comments against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. On Fox and Friends, Ramaswamy said that DeSantis was “copying his ideas” from the campaign trail.
He then went on to say that DeSantis was “reading ‘Woke Inc.’ and putting that in his teleprompter as his message” and that DeSantis was “running on a book, it’s not the one he wrote, it’s ‘Woke Inc.’”
Ramaswamy’s comments are both insulting and irresponsible. First of all, DeSantis was opposing so-called Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria in investing. This is a far cry from simply reading and promoting Ramaswamy’s book. The two are not the same thing.
Most importantly, DeSantis and Ramaswamy are both using Trump’s America First platform.
Lastly, Ramaswamy’s comments are simply false. DeSantis has taken a strong stance on protecting parental rights and on removing books with explicit content from Florida schools. This has nothing to do with Ramaswamy’s book or with his campaign message.
It is clear that Ramaswamy is trying to gain attention and boost his own profile by making false claims about DeSantis. His comments are irresponsible and should not be taken seriously. It is important to remember that, while Ramaswamy may be running for president, he is far from the only candidate in the race. DeSantis, too, has a strong record of service and is a viable candidate for the Republican nomination.
Ramaswamy’s comments are not only offensive, but they are a detriment to the Republican Party as a whole and degrade the united front the GOP has been striving to build—And for what? DeSantis is not running for president. If anything this just seems like another pathetic attempt to coax the governor to run.
That could just be me but it seems like the establishment wants DeSantis to announce so they have a candidate that might split the Republican vote. Is Ramaswamy just a cog in the establishment? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
