As the Biden Administration continues to push for more government spending and an expansive federal role in the economy, it is becoming clear that their rhetoric does not match their actions. In particular, the President has been touting the need to “trust” the Federal Reserve to help quell inflation, yet his own actions and those of his family suggest that he is not to be trusted.
Recently, a memo released by the House Oversight Committee revealed that Biden family members received over $1.3 million in payments from Rob Walker, a family business associate, after he had been paid $3 million by a Chinese energy company. Subpoenaed financial records show that Hallie, James and Hunter Biden received the money from Walker, raising serious questions of impropriety and conflict of interest.
When asked about the payments, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to respond, instead deflecting by stating that “it’s been lies and lies and inaccuracy for the past couple years and I’m just not gonna get into it.” This speaks to the Biden Administration’s hypocrisy when it comes to the Federal Reserve.
On the one hand, President Biden is touting the need to “trust” the Federal Reserve, yet on the other, his own family members are receiving payments from a Chinese energy company.
If the President truly believes in allowing the Federal Reserve to make independent monetary decisions, why is he not enforcing the same standards for his own family? The hypocrisy of the Biden Administration is clear – they want the government to take a leading role in the economy, yet refuse to hold themselves accountable to the same standards.
Furthermore, when questioned about the statements from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jianping that “change is coming that hasn’t happened in 100 years,” Jean-Pierre simply responded that “you would have to ask them.” This is troubling, as the Biden Administration seems to be ignoring the threats posed by these countries in their pursuit of economic and geopolitical power.
The Biden Administration must be held accountable for their rhetoric and their actions. If they truly believe in trusting the Federal Reserve, they need to start by holding themselves and their family members to the same standards. Until then, the Biden Administration’s words will have no value.
