It’s no surprise that Democrats are pushing for reparations. It’s a hot-button issue that they know will stir up emotions and get them votes. But Joe Biden and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre have been dodging the question of whether or not Biden supports reparations—Because it’s an insane proposal.
At a White House press briefing on Tuesday, a reporter asked Jean-Pierre if Biden supported reparations for slavery. Her answer? “We think Congress is the appropriate venue for consideration on such action.” In other words, dodge, duck, and cover.
But Biden did make some comments on the issue during his 2020 presidential campaign, saying he supported a commission on reparations. However, after Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee’s bill was voted on by the House Judiciary Committee, Biden didn’t mention it during a speech to mark the 100th anniversary of a race riot targeting blacks in Tulsa.
San Francisco recently approved a plan to provide $5 million payments to black residents who met certain criteria as a means of providing reparations for slavery. The criteria in the proposal included those who had served time for drug crimes or those affected by urban renewal plans from 1954-1973.
This is just another example of the Democrats’ insane spending plans, and it’s a plan that Biden and Jean-Pierre refuse to comment on or even acknowledge. They’re trying to sweep this issue under the rug and avoid taking a stand on it.
It’s time for Biden and Jean-Pierre to come out and make a statement about the reparations issue, either they back their nutty Democrat friends or they have to speak on the side of reason and shoot them down. If they’re going to stay silent, then they’re supporting the Democrats’ insane spending plans. The American people deserve to know where they stand on this issue, and they should be held accountable if they refuse to answer.
