Joy Reid is at it again. SOmeone really needs to check her meds. On the Thursday night edition of her show The ReidOut, the MSNBC host attacked Republicans yet again, this time for protecting children from gender transitioning and drag shows. Unfortunately, Reid’s arguments were as predictable as they were false.
In her rant, Reid accused Republicans of wanting to “undo the 20th century” by signing two bills that would ban sex-change procedures and sexually-explicit drag shows. She then claimed this form of entertainment had been around since Shakespeare, but the truth is that it’s a far cry from the plays the Bard wrote.
Reid also latched onto a joke made by Tennessee state representative Paul Sherrell during a hearing on legislation that would legalize firing squads as a punishment for violent crimes. The joke was about hanging as a punishment option, and Reid took this as a sign of support for lynching. It was a ridiculous interpretation of the joke, and Reid’s attempt to make everything about race was not only wrong but also offensive.
It’s clear that Reid and her Democratic allies are out of touch with reality and have no problem twisting the truth to fit their own narrative. Republicans are not trying to “undo the 20th century,” they are trying to protect children from the dangers of sex-change procedures and the perverse acts of drag shows. This is something that all decent people should support.
Furthermore, Reid’s attempt to make a joke about hanging into a sign of support for lynching was a new low, even for her. It’s clear that Reid and her ilk will go to any length to demonize Republicans and make everything about race.
This is why it’s important for Republicans to stand up against this kind of divisive rhetoric and call out Reid and the Democrats for their lies and distortions. Too often, Republicans are silent in the face of such attacks, and it’s time for them to start speaking up for the truth.
