It’s no secret that the liberal media has a history of attacking conservative politicians based on their race, gender, and other personal attributes. And now, with the announcement of Nikki Haley’s candidacy for president, we’re seeing that ugly side of the Left come out once again.

On Tuesday, CNN’s Jake Tapper attempted to criticized Democrats for their targeted attacks on Haley based on her race but in reality, he blamed Haley. At the very least he dismissed their long history of bigotry and sexism by saying that Haley brought it out in them:

“There is a very ugly side of the Left that comes out when Nikki Haley runs for office,” he said on “The Lead with Jake Tapper.” “You see some people on the Left noting that Nikki is not her original first name, I think it’s her middle name, and basically suggesting that she, I mean it’s not true, and these are the same people who objected to whenever Republicans would say Barack Hussein Obama.”

It’s hypocritical for the Left to attack Haley based on her name, while simultaneously claiming to be champions of diversity and inclusivity. But unfortunately, this type of behavior is all too common in today’s political climate.

Haley has also come under fire for her age, with CNN’s Don Lemon facing backlash after saying she was past her prime at 51 years old. Whoopi Goldberg of “The View” echoed similar criticism of Haley.

It’s clear that the liberal media is attempting to tear down Haley before she even has a chance to campaign. But Haley has been a trailblazer throughout her political career, serving as the first female and first minority governor of South Carolina, and later as ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump administration. She has proven time and time again that she is a capable and effective leader.

Haley’s policy proposals, such as requiring politicians over 75 to take a cognitive ability test in order to run for office, are bold and innovative. And her commitment to the principles of the Republican Party make her an excellent candidate for the GOP nomination.

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted earlier this month, Haley is polling in fourth place at four percent, below Trump at 43 percent, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 31 percent. Former Vice President Mike Pence also polled ahead of Haley at seven percent.

It’s time for the liberal media to stop attacking conservative politicians based on their personal attributes and focus on their policies and qualifications. Nikki Haley is a strong and capable leader who deserves to be judged on her merits, not her race or gender. Let’s give her a fair chance to make her case to the American people.
