PBS anchor Sara Sidner kickstarted her disinformation episode with guest Dr. Joseph Safran calling the current 2nd Amendment a ‘public health crisis’. The two pushed for a full ‘assault weapons ban’ on the publicly funded network. The episode was so far-left that CNN aired it on their International station.

The two called mass shootings “uniquely American”, which was a bold lie as several other counties like the UK and Mexico have bigger issues than the US. Especially if you consider that the stats they used to make their argument included domestic violence and residential shootings.

Snider stated that “2022 will go down as the second-highest year for mass shootings in the United States on record. That means more than 600 mass killings in the past 12 months alone, according to data compiled by the nongovernmental organization, Gun Violence Archive. The shootings come at a disturbing pace, often too fast to grasp — people going about their day suddenly gunned down in schools, supermarkets, night clubs, movie theaters, in the streets, you name it.”

She soon added: “Are these tragedies preventable? And why can’t we stop this uniquely American problem?”

Safran of course agreed…

However, according to the website she cited, there were 36 instances of gun-related “mass murder” in 2022, which would include killings in both private houses and public places. There are surely many other countries with high murder rates.

Taxpayerfunded news networks have come a long way from the days of objective journalism. In recent years, many news outlets have been accused of leaning heavily to the left, with their coverage often taking on a decidedly liberal slant. This is an understatement—Just look at NPR!

Americans have long criticized the use of taxpayer money to fund what has become a form of activism. Supporters of these networks argue that their reporting is meant to hold those in power accountable, while detractors argue that they are merely pushing a political agenda.

By skewing the facts, they are doing a disservice to the public, who are left with a biased view of the news. It is clear that taxpayerfunded news networks have become more and more like liberal activists, and the implications of this are farreaching. I just found this particularly infuriating because in this segment the network uses taxpayer funding to advocate against amendment rights.
